11/09 - Niceta, Dennis, Gasly and De Vries win...

... a test in the Formula Academy! Winner of the KF3 World Cup in Sarno, the Italian Guiliano Niceta also won a complete free test day onboard one of Auto Sport Academy’s single-seaters: the Formula Academy. The Englishman Jake Dennis and the Frenchman Pierre Gasly completed the podium and were therefore also invited to Le Mans to discover the Formula Academy just like the pole man Nyck de Vries.

Member of the FFSA '10-15 Program' (training and accompaniment program for young French hopes to reach the highest level), Pierre Gasly will have been the revelation of this KF3 Junior World Cup. Positioned 9th at qualifying with his Sodi/TM, he ends 11th of the pre-finale. But in the end, he made a magnificent take-off, found himself 2nd at mid-race and also occupied for a short time 1st position to the general surprise of everyone present. He finally ends up on the 3rd step of the podium of this World Cup, an incredible result for a 1st season in KF3! Let us remember that one month ago, Pierre Gasly started international competition during the second event of the European Championship in Zuera (Spain). His comment at his arrival: “I am very happy, 3rd, not bad for a rookie…”.

In Sarno, another driver distanced himself and as such, also wins a free test day in the Formula Academy. His name is Nyck De Vries. Author of best time in free practice with more than 5 tenths beforehand, head of all his qualifying sessions, largely outstripping his opponents during pre-finale, the Dutchman was not able to win the finale because of a technical mistake. "I fought as best as I could, but I was not able to do better than 5th. This is terribly disappointing…"

Even the winner Niceta agreed with this: "In pre-finale, I was penalized to have anticipated the departure. I left in 14th position on the starting grid of the finale and I had to come back onto my opponents in order to impose myself. I was lucky that Nyck De Vries had his problem because he really seemed to be above the average. But there you are, I am very happy to won this title!"
